Welcome to Bill Simmon’s homepage.
Bill is a filmmaker, writer, media educator and new media evangelist living in northern Vermont. He has written all of the content of this website in that annoying third person “professional” voice, but he assures the reader that he is the author of it all.
Bill works at VCAM, a non-profit community media and technology center located in Burlington, Vermont. He is the Production Manager there.
Bill Films his own award-winning short films, music videos and documentaries. He also maintains an active freelance film & video production business.
Bill blogs at Candleblog, which has been awarded the Seven Days “Daysie” Reader’s Choice Award for Best Vermont (non-political) Blog in 2005, 2007and 2008.
Bill podcasts his weekly two-hour political/science fiction radio show, Poli-Sci-Fi Radio, which he hosts with political writer and blogger Steve Benen.
Bill teaches filmmaking at Burlington-area colleges.
Bill writes magazine articles occasionally on the side.
Bill evangelizes new media and is an enthusiastic advocate for the democratization of media & technology. He is also a tireless defender of free speech.
